I would think, for example, putting $2000 a month and paying 90% of the Slate off in the same time frame would get you approved for any of their cards. But that, of course, applies to applications for a whole new card rather than PC.

I recently (little over 2 months) completely paid off all of my credit cards so I dont have a balance on any of them. I dont have anything negative on my accounts and have made all my payments on time.

I'm in the exact situation. Had my Slate since 2003 and they don't want to PC me to anything. I already have a freedom so i want to PC to a CSP or regular CS. I did have a very high util on it back in college, but it's been at a zero balance for a year now.

Here's the wording they give me: "We regret to inform you we can't product change your account at this moment"
Because of their wording, it leads me to think the PC is possible, but there is something on my account they must not like. And as always, they will not tell me why (they're not allowed to apparently).

Now, if they told me that sort of PC is NOT POSSIBLE, then I would give up and stop asking. But since they consistently say "at this moment", I continue to call every 2 months, and no luck.

No baddies on my reports, ever.

Ive had my Slate card since 2006 but they dont seem to want to upgrade it to anything. I already have the Freedom and dont want 2 of them.

I was in the same situation as you. I had Slate since 2010 and got Freedom in 2011.
I called CHASE and asked for a PC and she told me that my Slate can only be changed to Freedom. I told her I have freedom but that was no help.
So I agreed to change it to freedom. And now I had two freedom.
After a month I called CHASE saying that I have two freedom, and want to combine credit limit into one, which they happily did.
So, now I have one Freedom card with combined credit limit.

That was a bad move in my opinion. Having two freedom cards means you have essentially double the limit on cash back in the 5% categories each quarter. If you never spend more than $1500 in each category then I guess it doesn't matter however.

That is the same thing I thought at first. But I've never reached $1500 in each category. The most I've spent so far is around $500 in a category. So, decided to merge the card credit limit into one.
