Can you upgrade MasterCard World to World Elite?

Postby wizozzie » Mon Jul 01, 2013 9:07 am

Folks:

I got a CSP World Mastercard earlier this year instead of the Signature Visa, and I'm starting to feel like I made a mistake. The World MasterCard is pretty snazzy looking, but the benefits from the Signature Visa are much better.

I think this is the reason why Chase took down the MasterCard application. The benefits are woeful in comparison.

Anyone know if the MasterCard can be upgraded to the World Elite level?

it can. but you need something like a 25k CL and you have to be a heavy user of it for at least a year.

alternatively, if you apply for this chase MC or an Chase Business MC with high credit scores and fat paycheck they give you a WEMC right off the bat.
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

If the card in question is a Sapphire Preferred, the answer is no. It isn't available as a World Elite Mastercard, period.
Have never ever seen evidence of this card as a World Elite although people (myself included) get a bit confused because of the cool metallic MC logo on the World MC version, where this logo is usually only used on WEMC cards.

You didn't compare before applying? There are pros and cons to each. I selected the World Mastercard because it suited me better. If the Visa Signature suits you better then why did you apply for the World Mastercard?

Obviously I did it to annoy you enough to scold me! I hope that made you feel real good.

I'll just get a Visa Signature of some sort, it's no sweat really.
