CSP MasterCard Application Missing?

Postby benhollberg » Tue Jun 11, 2013 1:09 am

I am looking to get a MasterCard for really a "just in case I need a MasterCard moment." Was looking around and hear a lot of good things about the Chase SP, I know there's a MC version of it but on the MasterCard website I can't find it at all. I know applying through Chase's website it'll always come up as Visa. So where is this application?

Also do you think I'll be approved, have good credit and good income but am about two months into the Chase MPR card on Visa. Will that matter?

I was digging around the MC website the other day and couldn't find anything. I think you have to call and ask to switch once approved.

So basically the only way to get the CSP MasterCard is applying for the Visa and then getting it switched. Does anyone know if this is a for sure thing, like do the always switch it upon request?

The CSP MC app wasn't linked from the Mastercard site when I applied in March. I Googled and found a link. Sorry -- don't have it handy.

they killed the application page for it. i used to have a direct link, but it just says offer unavailable now. apply for VISA and get a PC. i know it is an extra entry in your credit report that no one wants, but if you REALLY must have it as a WMC, then you have no other choice.

Personally, I think VISA is better since one of this card's main selling points is the 0% foreign transaction fee and more places abroad take VISA then MC.

I assume the MC version of it has all the same features as the Visa, including the no foreign transaction fee, even though I already have a card with no foreign transaction fee. I really just thought it may be a good idea to get a MC and the CSP is talked about so much on this site. I'll probably call Chase tonight and see if I can learn more about this. I don't want to apply for the Visa and then not be able to switch to MC, I want to make sure I can change for sure.

up to a certain point, yes. the benefits that are provided by Chase are the same on both versions. But there are other benefits that are provided by MC and VISA. that's where the difference sits.

i'm not sure what the benefits of the WMC are, but VISA signature holders are entitled to one free movie ticket via fandango every Friday night if they purchase one online at full price. VISA extended warranty coverage is also a little better. I'm a big movie fan, so the VISA Signature version was a no brainier for me.

if you want to full run down, visit the website of MC and VISA.

and speaking of run downs, did anyone watch the Spurs/Heat game? that game was exceptionally brutal.

I didn't know about the movie offer for Visa Signature, I already have a Visa Signature card though so I don't need another Visa Signature card.

Speaking of the Heat and Spurs I called Visa Signature Concierge about hotels and tickets for Game 5 today. They didn't come up with anything for tickets. As a ticket broker I can find my own tickets to just about anything but wanted to see what they could come up with, they really emailed they can't find any. Also needed a hotel that has shuttles to the arena, they said no hotels offered it, which surprised me.

no way in hell is any credit card going to fetch play off tickets for you. even AmEx wont be able to do it. they were sold out 2 minutes after the Spurs won game 1. VISA, MC, or any bank would never buy a ticket for you from a reseller or an auction site. if it is not available at the source, they can't get it. and unlike concerts, there aren't any reserved seats for companies to hand out.
