Hehehe, it IS paid down! Just need to wait for it to update on my credit report. That said, yeah, I screwed myself over on limits. Next time, I will check my credit report the day I apply for something, not several weeks before.

What number and dept do you call? I applied yesterday online after I was mailed an invite number, but I got the 10 day pending notice and called a toll free number today. Rep said I have to wait until they decide. Did I call too soon? Which is the best number to call and when should I call?

One thing that was different about this call than the others was that I was asked for my usage and payment patterns, which have always been responsible in my eyes (pay immediately when exceeding 20-30% utilization, and otherwise PIF after each statement cuts). I'm very pleased that Chase was willing to work with me, and that I also was able to turn a HP into a successful app.

This is the one you want you must have called the regular CS number, and that is what they will tell you. The number above will get you to analysts who can actually tell you what is going on and make a decision (within limits of course). Good luck!

And when do you call it? Like NOW.

I called this morning, and was asked a few verification questions. I was approved for $3,500! Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your help. I called this morning and was approved for $3,500. I am tempted to apply for the Chase Slate, as that was also mailed to me as an invitation. Should I wait? I have 3 EXP inquiries in the past 3 months.

The Slate's not worth applying for until you've got a balance that needs to be transferred. It does exactly dick in terms of anything except balance transfers.

If Slate gives a line of credit, that is just as good as any other card. I am not concerned too much with interest rates.
