They do generally like to see a year of history. With persistence you may be able to get a 500 limit to start. I guess the question is would you be ok with that? If not just wait until you have a year and then you have a good chance. If you really want it now, you've already used the inquiry so nothing to lose by recon. Just depends on what you would be happy with.

I'd rather use a HP on a CLI rather than another app so even $500 would be fine. I just want the card. If all goes well I'll have a nice CLI on another card in a few months and can use that as leverage with Chase for CLIs and the CSP before the holidays.

I had also gotten a CLI before applying with Chase but it didn't show up on their reports since not enough time had passed. If the new limit gets reported to the bureaus and I recon with Chase, will they see the new data or do they need to do a HP for it?

Called back again to a different number and the representative approved me for the Freedom! One thing that was different about this call than the others was that I was asked for my usage and payment patterns, which have always been responsible in my eyes (pay immediately when exceeding 20-30% utilization, and otherwise PIF after each statement cuts). I'm very pleased that Chase was willing to work with me, and that I also was able to turn a HP into a successful app.

Good for you! That was my experience with them as well, you may have to recon multiple times, and just get the right analyst who wants to give you a shot.

Congratulations! Freedom is a great card. It's on my to-acquire list in the future.

This thread right here, is what brought me to these forums!

I was researching what to do when confronted with the 7-10 day notice I got after applying for a Case Freedom card, and google pointed me here. That said, I called the number listed in the second post (thanks MemberSince99), and was approved for $500. That might not seem like something to celebrate, but it's a helluva lot better than the First Premier worthlessness I've been carrying around for the last couple years.

I was feeling pretty pumped after that, so I went out on a limb and applied for an AmEx Delta Skymiles, and got instant approval! Still don't know the limit though.

I had also applied for a Capital One Cash Rewards simultaneously with the Freedom card, and likewise gotten the 7-10 days message. It seems that it might not be the biggest loss if I don't get it though. Kinda weird to get instantly approved for the Delta card, but not the Cap One, which is supposed to be easier to get.

Anyways, I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the help this thread lead me to find on these forums.

Congrats on all the approvals! I guess it's true what they say - the Amex Gold Delta SkyMiles *is* the easiest Amex to get approved for?

It sure seems that way.

I got my card the other day ($2000 limit), and Amex indicates that my Experian score was 705 when I applied. On one hand, I hadn't had any hard inquiries in over a year, but on the other my util was at 99%!

I usually only occasionally carry a balance, but it turns out my balance reported just before I paid. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that!

The verdict, it seems, is that yes indeed the Delta is easier to get.

Oh no, I don't habitually stay at 99% utilization! It just reported while my payment was still processing!

The interesting thing here though, is that I got approved for Chase Freedom, Amex Delta, Discover It, and a Capital One card all while at 99% util.

I hate to sound like the fanatics on FICO, but, in looking at your limits, you might have gotten approved, but that utilization might have caused you to get lower limits than you would have gotten had it been 10%. A Freedom with a limit of 500 is right on the ragged edge of approval. Honestly you did pretty good with the Delta though. Still, I would pay that down ASAP.
