Chase application decision pending. What are odds of approval?

Postby oceanic790 » Mon May 06, 2013 11:27 am

I just applied for a Chase Slate card because of the 0% introductory interest and no fee on balance transfers.

I indicated on the application that I'm interested to do a balance transfer of $5000 from one of my other cards. I have an average score of 716 between the 3 bureaus. I also have other accounts or loans with more than $5000 limit.

I didn't get immediate approval for the card. It said that my application is under review and will hear in 7-10 business days with a decision.

Is this a bad sign?

How likely am I to get approved?

What's the next step I should take?

Call the automated Chase line:

800-436-7927

I received the same message you did upon applying for the Chase Freedom a couple years back, and a day after I applied I couldn't wait so I called the number. I was approved and my card was on the way.

On the other hand, I did apply for the Sapphire standard card a couple months ago, and got the same message. This time however, the automated message kept replying "we are reviewing your application and should receive a response in 7-10 business days via mail." I ended up being denied because of my income right now.

If you keep hearing that automated message above though, I would say you are denied.

Best of luck though- the Slate is a fairly easy card to obtain compared to the others Chase offers, from what I hear.
Currently: American Express Blue Sky, American Express Zync, Chase Freedom Visa, Capital One Newcomers--->converted to Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard NO AF

Yup, give them a call with the number mentioned above. Be polite, friendly and state your case. If the rep over the phone denies you, politely hang up and call again to speak with someone new. I've heard varied reports from other forums that some banks keep tabs on the number of times you call, so if you get denied three times in a row, it's probably best to try again a few months from now.

Chase and BoA both do. BoA even takes short notes for the reasons you called. But what sucks is that BoA's customer support is full of retards and you have to keep calling them get stuff done. They never get it right the fist 5 times i call. I'd dump them in a heart beat, but my oldest and lowest APR account is with them.

and to the OP: Chase CS is on top of their game, unlike some other banks. a few days after you apply give them a call at the number previously listed. if you have any chance of getting approved i'm sure it'll happen on the first call.

I was in the exact same situation two weeks ago when I applied for the CSP. I got the same notification as you so I waited 24 hours and called the reconsideration line; I was approved in minutes after they verified my identity. You may not have to wait a full day, it's just how it worked out for me.

Chase: 888-270-2127 (App recon)

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Congratulations. there is no reason not to approve you. since the slate has no rewards or fancy perks, it is the easiest of the Chase cards to be approved for. and judging form your credit scores and credit lines on other accounts, you are a prime candidate.

My company makes the customer relationship management software the reps are likely using when you call them. Trust me, it's designed to keep tabs on all the times you engage BofA, whether it's phone calls or other means.

I hadn't even noticed that post before.

They may well keep track, but you still can be successful this way. With Chase I've had to recon three times to get the right person who decided to approve in the past.

I'm not saying that the squeaky wheel doesn't get the grease...it's just that BofA and any decent organization running a decent call center should have detailed records on when you called into their system, and hopefully what the topic was about. This technology has been around since the 90's and I have personal experience (though not recent) with how BofA's systems work in this area.
