Got approved for CSP

Postby mdl28 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:55 am

I recently had interest in a capitol one venture card. I called and even talked with a rep before applying, stating I am curently a long standing card holder of a basic cap one no hassle rewards mastercard. They pulled up my account and replied that I had a "very good chance of getting the venture card". I applied and was denied.

Fast forward to today.. Applied for chase sapphire preffered and was intstantly approved with 5k CL

Looking forward to 40k points after 3k spent

Congrats! I know, CO can be a B***h sometimes. I hate when lenders toy with the idea of "You have a good chance..." then get declined and you realize that they lied and all they did was fill their quota while you get jack s**t...
Venture really is a nice card though, but CS/CSP is awesome and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it.

Congrats! I've had the Sapphire for almost a year now and just called to upgrade to the Preferred. Sucks that don't qualify for the 40,000 sign-up bonus since I'm simply upgrading; I should've applied for the Preferred right off the back a year ago. I guess I was afraid that my credit score wasn't high enough back then to qualify for the Preferred, but only the regular version.

Does anyone have any insight as to whether the requirements for the cards are different or not?

Had the same problem with amex, I upgraded from green to amex gold PR and I was passed up for 25k bonus rewards points after 2k spent. After many differnt calls to membership rewards and now a letter sent to the main office. I am hoping to recieve the 25k points. Ill keep you posted with outcome,

Mine showed up today! Just in time for my trip to Italy next week. It's a mighty fine looking card :-) Already called to activate it and let them know I'll be traveling soon.

It's almost funny but Venture is literally harder to get than CSP or Amex.

The higher the annual fee, the greedier the bank can be in handing it out to more people (with some exceptions, ie Centurion).

What was the reason for denial? You seem to have a nice card folio by looking at your sig.

It's funny because I just got instantly approved for a Amex revolver which I always heard were hard to get, I almost went with a Amex charge card. Any who I think if I would of paid the balance on my chase freedom before I applied I might of got it. I had about 2k worth of charges and then I applied for CSP and after that paid the full balance. I should of done it before I applied. Totally slipped my mind.

But never missed a payment with Chase, always pay in full. No idea why I was shafted. They pulled my EQ or Ex can't remember and it was 750. I do believe Chase blamed it on too many INQ in past 6 months but In the past 6 months I did get a home loan and a car loan. But only 2 Hardpulls for Home and 2 for auto.
