Bksuper you are most likely right it was just misinformation. I doubt anyone deliberately tried to lie, they probably don't even know their own products.

I know that sounds ludicrous but working in Corporate America, I see it all the time. They don't tell you the employee anything (other than you are to blame for all the problems because you are "empowered" but don't do anything or else!) and they go and do things and then tell you after the fact oh we did this, and it's live now that's not a problem is it. These are the clowns who get bonuses while you get downsized. Corporate America doesn't believe in training or paying for people who know what the hell they are doing, so no one does, or very few do, and it's all so random that in a way it doesn't matter anyway because they might do tomorrow the opposite of what they do today, usually without telling anyone.

So it's no wonder no one knows anything and no one cares. I live to just escape the hell and get paid, that's all you can do, and hold on to what's left of my sanity by drinking.

And strangely, there's no corresponding World Elite Mastercard version for those of us who carry the Mastercard version. Oh well...

i called up and asked about it again. also did a little research. there is a higher tier mastercard version, but it is the "world mastercard", not the "world elite." most US banks don't even issue an "elite" master card from what i understand. to me it also looks as if all "world elite" cards have a massive annual fee attached to them OR require a big checking account with the CC issuer, to the tune of $250k

after a certain time i think they will give us an offer to step up to the "world mastercard" or "visa signature" even though you and I meet the CL requirement, there is more that they want from us. or maybe the person who approved out applications decided not to give us the higher tier card. but i think we will never know the reason.
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

In my experience, Chase is a difficult card issuer to get excited about. Had not of my oldest cards not been issued by them, I would have no use for them at all. The Marriott Rewards card is their only redeeming value.
Charge & Credit Cards: 121.8K+ (AmEx Platinum: NPSL; Bank of America Cash Rewards: 50k; PenFed Platinum Cash Rewards: 28.8k; PenFed Pomise 21k; Chase Marriott Rewards: 13.5k; Citi Simplicity 5k; Chase Slate: 3.5k)

Store Cards: 24.9k (The Home Depot: 16.5k; Nordstrom: 6k; Macys: 1.2k; DressBarn: 1k)

LoCs: 19.5k (Credit Union: 17.5k; Tertiary Bank: 2k)

Total: 176k+ (including min 10k tested on AmEx)

Interesting. I find I use my Freedom/CSP almost as much as my Amex. I like the UR points. Even more so now that Amex has killed their shopping mall.
AmEx - Platinum, Gold, Bluebird
Chase - CSP, Freedom
HSBC - Orchard Bank (1999)

Agreed. I like not having to push buttons to talk to a person, and the customer service I have received when calling them has been nothing short of amazing. As David said, great sign up bonuses. Mine was worth $500, and with a low $95 annual fee, this card will be profitable for a while. Last time I booked a hotel with my CSP, I got a free room upgrade and have no idea why or how, but I took it.
Amex Platinum
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K

Exactly! When AmEx killed that mall thing the card became useless to me. without the mall i can't pick up points fast enough to make the card fee worthwhile. they also killed their relationships with several airlines.

Chase actually DOES have a similar shopping mall. the point bonuses are mostly on par compared to what AmEx use to offer. For instance, 3 points/$ at Dell Small Business and Tigerdirect, and buy tons of stuff there for work.
