Requirements for the marriot

Postby JA. » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:26 pm

I will be doing some traveling once summer starts, within the U.S and in Asia. However I'm 21 with a very good score but a not so long history.

Just wondering what some of the requirements are to get approved.

Thanks!

Also 21; I got approved for this card with about a two year AAoA (at the time) and around a 730 FICO. Limit is pretty high; $8900 as compared to the $5000 Freedom I was approved for in the same spree.

I'm 19 and in the 720 FICO range with around one year of credit history that has been flawless. I was approved 3 weeks ago and it is my favorite card in my wallet.
My Cards:
Chase Marriott Premier Rewards Visa Signature 6.5k (03/13)
American Express Platinum NPSL (10/13)

I am not a student, but I listed my income at $40K a year, which is what I make.

Looks like ill go ahead and give it a shot after i pay off all the cards this cycle. Also has anyone used a chipped card overseas and were there any difficulties? Specifically China? Just wondering if they charge the foreign amount on the card and then Visa will exchange it back to USD for when I pay the bill.

Please do post the outcome. I'm also a student, 20, studying abroad in the fall, and seriously considering applying for this card. My score's not quite as high, CreditKarma has my score at 680, with the following details.

Credit Card Utilization 3%
Percent of Payments Made On-Time 100%
Age of Credit History 2 Yrs 0 Mos
Total Accounts 3
Credit Inquiries 0
Derogatory Marks 0

I have a AmEx Zync, NPSL, and am an authorized user/responsible party on a CapOne VentureOne, 5,000 CL. No credit card debt but approximately 12,000 in Federal student loans. What's everybody's opinion on getting accepted? The other card I was looking at is the Merrill+, mostly just for the prestige factor but I wasn't really thinking I would get accepted for that.
American Express Zync ~ NPSL
American Express Everyday ~ $2000
Bank of America Travel Rewards ~ $1500
Chase Freedom ~ $2500
AU Capital One Venture One ~ $5000

I think you can only apply over the phone, but I'm not compeltely positive on that. The website with the cards: https://card.ml.com/RWDapp/ml/viewcards doesn't have an apply now button but it could just be behind the sign in page. I really like the Merrill+, it offers all of the standard Visa Sig benefits plus some others for no annual fee, also it's a NPSL depending on whether that's a good thing for you. Plus, I think the card looks amazing! Initially I wanted the JP Morgan Select but then I found this one and decided this would be smarter for being 20 and not actually spending that much each month, it's just the whole getting accepted for it problem.

Update: I went ahead and applied spontaneously and was instantly approved. I guess I'm just waiting for that piece of metal to get to my door now ;)
