anybody have Visa black?

Postby waffled » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:37 am

looking for input on it, I've been considering the amex platinum but I see that the black card from visa is comparable.
AMEX: Premier Rewards Gold, Delta Gold, Delta Platinum, Omaha.
Discover: IT
Mastercard: Capital One Platinum, Citi Diamond Preferred, Scotiabank
Visa: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Freedom, Bank Americard Cash

I have had the black card from Visa in the past. The benefits and perks does not compare to the benefits of the platinum card with American Express. The fee is high but to be honest if use the benefits that comes along with the platinum card you will earn you fee back within a matter of weeks. Good luck with your decision.

The Platinum Card is far superior from what I've read about the Visa Black. If you want a good Visa for traveling, save yourself $400 a get a CSP.
Amex Platinum
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K

is the Black a Visa Signature, or Visa Signature Preferred?

Honestly from everything I've read about it, they are trying to make you pay a large fee for the "prestige" of carrying around a "black" card. If that makes you feel 500 bucks more important, I guess it's worth it, otherwise it's just a rip off.

The Associated Visa Signature I have in my wallet is "black" too, and it doesn't cost me a penny more a year than my green platinum Visa does. I wouldn't pay 500 dollars just to carry a black colored card. But it's up to you.

Not worth it in my opinion. It looks Tacky too saying "Black Card" in the front with large bold print..
If you really do want a black card get the chase ritz carlton card or marriot premier. Both are fully black and made of metal :)
Amex Zync
Chase Marriot Premier
Discover IT
WF Platinum Cash Back

If you Google "Visa Black Review" and "AMEX Platinum Review" I think you'll see there's no comparison. Visa Black is a pretender to the throne. AMEX Platinum is the titular head!
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016

Well, save for the REAL black card.
AmEx - Platinum, Gold, Bluebird
Chase - CSP, Freedom
HSBC - Orchard Bank (1999)
