bank of america (Visa to Mastercard)

Postby craigm1 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 4:08 pm

I have a Bank of America Signature Visa the 1-2-3 card with cash rewards, the limit is 10k so I tell them I have a Us Bank Cash + Visa Signature and they report the limit to the credit bureaus, they put me on hold for 10 minutes and say that's not possible, but then tell me I should switch to a Bank of America World Mastercard. This card reports the credit line so I agree they tell me my cash rewards will stay the same my member since date will stay the same, did I make a good or bad move doing this???????

I can't even find the card on the B of A website

The BofA Cash Rewards Visa Signature card is a "no pre-set spending limit" card, much like an American Express charge card. That isn't necessarily a bad thing really but it's one of the few Visa Signature cards that operates that way. Still, I would not have product changed it to a World MasterCard. I used to carry that card and it's just a basic card with a lousy points structure that doesn't use the cash back model of the other card. Not to mention you lost all of the other benefits that having a Visa Signature card gives you while using it. If that's ok with you (since you also carry a US Bank Cash + Sig), I would call BofA and product change you to a Cash Rewards MasterCard, which is what I carry. It will report your limit like you want but still give you the cash back rewards of the Visa card you just left.
