Chase CLI success

Postby 432521 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 2:48 pm

its a boring saturday so I decided to call chase and ask for a CLI. Got automatic response 1,500 the exact amount I asked for. Didn't want to over shoot anything and I don't care about hard pulls or anything. I do think this is my second one for the year because I got one from discover as well when I asked for an CLI from them as well (also a success).

It's really YMMV (isn't that always true?). I've read of some people claiming they didn't get hit with a hard pull. Obviously it's the exception by far and not the rule. With Chase the safe assumption is it's a hard.

Congrats to you, your new limit must be 3k?

No, its 1500. I had to recon for my card at 500 and I asked for 1000 yesterday and got it. I know mines was a hardpull because the CSR said if it was okay for her to get a report.

Chase, in my experience, has been super strict on credit lines for me.

I've had the Freedom for well over a year now, limit starting at $1,000. I called last November about a CLI for $2,000, got granted $1,500.

I'm assuming this is because of a somewhat thin credit file (5-6+ years?) I have other cards (two Amex charge, one Blue Sky w/ $5k limit). Not sure why I got only $1,500 in Chase's eyes.

I've always paid in full, never carried a balance. EX score is 768.

I also recently applied for the regular Sapphire, but I fear I won't qualify because of income "requirements," or even the fact I have a paltry $1500 on my Freedom.

On that note however, congrats on the CLI! Mine was a hard pull likewise.
Currently: American Express Blue Sky, American Express Zync, Chase Freedom Visa, Capital One Newcomers--->converted to Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard NO AF

My credit history isn't even 4 years yet and I have a much better setup than you with Chase, so the history you have is plenty long enough. What's you income?

My income is less than $30k- not sure why still. No baddies, anything like that. I would assume my income is a big factor, although I know folks making less than $20k who have a larger credit line w/ Chase (not to mention Visa Signature) Freedom.

I plan to shoot for another Chase CLI in another several months here.

Are you doing soft pulls 3x CLIs on your Blue Sky every 6 months? I'm pretty sure once you have a higher CL it will be easier to raise your Chase CL. I wouldn't try any more hard pulls with chase unless you get a higher CL or Income.
I have less then 2yrs of AAoA and I just got a CSP with 12K but my BCP was already at 6K when I applied. My BCP started at 1K and went to 6K in less then 1yr with only soft pulls.
