+1 for the recon call after denial. They ask a few questions, verify you are who you say you are, and then bam! You're in.

It was 4 years back, when I 1st applied for a Chase United Card, I got it declined. Never knew of a reconsideration line at that time and took the bullet. I was happy with chase Reconsideration line for my latest approval of Freedom.

Have you *reconsidered* applying for the United Explorer or Club card again? They're both pretty darn amazing cards in their own right. And, chances are you, you'd get approved.

I gave up on BoA because of stupid customer reps from over seas. took me 14 calls (yes, fourteen) and 4 weeks to get my World Points MasterCard (now discontinued) converted to a Cash Rewards MasterCard.

-at least 2 reps said the card i wanted does not exist, even though the app for it is on their website in plain sight.
-one rep tried to get the card converted to a cash rewards card that was discontinued a year ago. took 1 week for them to figure out the mistake and call me.
-1 rep said that converting credit cards is not possible and that i have to reapply and open a new account.
-the others kept screwing something up in their system causing the request to be denied for no reason until 1 person eventually got it right.

eventually i stopped using my BoA card for other customer rep screw ups. i didn't close the card because it is actually a good card and the interest is 7.9% FIXED APR. cards like this will never be offered again. going to hang on to this as long as i can

i did a product conversion with chase too. converted a chase slate to a chase freedom. took only 1 call, the card was in my mail box 3 days later.
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

How difficult was it to get Chase to convert your cards? I have an Amazon Chase card and want to convert it to something else--anything else, really.

I dont think you can convert the Amazon card to anything.. Thats like trying to convert an Express store card to Victoria secret just because they are by the same bank. I dont think its possible but would be cool.

Darn. I'll just have to live with it and apply for a Sapphire Preferred next year.

Even though I still got approved for the CSP I barely got it. Before you apply you should get your scores closer to 700 and get some cli on your cards. I think me having a 4k credit card is what helped me convince them I could handle the 5k minimum credit line for the CSP.

I wouldn't call recon unless they deny you in the letter or over the phone. There is an automated Application status line: 800-436-7927, however every time I called in those 3 days it said "Your application is still in pending, this is the most updated information we have" or something along those lines.

It's best to wait.

It's been a few days since I applied for the Chase Freedom card. I found this thread and although it's a couple of years old, the phone number provided still works. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the "Your application is still in pending, this is the most updated information we have" message.

Is there another phone number for the reconsideration line that I could contact in order to speak to someone to attempt to get the card approved?
