The second link that you provided, how do you know that Chase uses this list with the MCC codes to get the 5% back?

Using the MCC list, the 7-11 that I went in filled up is on the MCC list...

So what does that mean for me??

Seems like the MCC for that 7-11 fuel station doesn't qualify for the 5% cash back (meaning, the MCC is not 5541/5542.) I sent a SM to Chase online and asked if they went by MCC or if the list they provide us are the only stores that qualify for the 5% cash back and they responded that they go by MCC. They also state it in your rewards term what stores qualify for the 5% cash back. Sucks you didn't get your 5% on the 7-11 gas charge, but you did in the 7-11 convenience store.
As long as the the places you go to to make your purchases are coded 5541/5542 (gas stations), 5912 (drug stores), or a Starbucks location, then you're good for this first quarter, UNLESS it's listed in the exclusion list.
