Freedom or Sapphire

Postby ncosky290 » Wed Feb 20, 2013 9:35 pm

in the coming months I am thinking about getting my first visa. I have 2 master cards, 2 discover cards, and an amex. What is the best. I have 2 in mind but will take other opinions.

I can't agree more. Start with the Freedom, the 5% rewards are well worth it.

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon

I have both cards, but tend to use my Freedom more. Overall a better card in my opinion.
Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard- 7.5k (06/13)
Amex Blue Cash Everyday-14k (01/13)
Chase Sapphire Visa Signature- 5k (09/12)
Chase Freedom Mastercard- 7.5k (02/12)
Capital One MTV Visa- 3k (09/10)
Citi Sunoco Gas-750 (07/06)

Thanks, just getting an idea. I just got the It and Delta card this month so I will be waiting a bit. Trying to filter out my Capital Ones this year to early next. Plan sick and tired of that company. Useless in my sense now that I got cards that will actually grow over time...

How long would you suggest I wait since I just was approved for the Discover and Amex. I tried for a BoA and was denied the same day I did the discover and amex. I do not want a denial for too many inquires cause those blow!

I did just that. Went with the freedom. Applied online jan 18 for slate they said no. Did freedom today they said no at first. Called. after 15 min of review the rep went ahead and approved it for CL 2000 will receive card in mail 5-7 days. Awesome... Done now. 3 new cards in 2 weeks. All prime. GOOD BYE CAPITAL ONE. won't cancel the one as it is my oldest but will say buy to the other even though their exc team did just raise the limit a whole 750. It has AF of 19 that i just don't wanna give them. It isn't much but still.

Thanks guys for the help. Nick*

Nicely done, now you wont need another card for awhile. I had to call Chase Freedom Rep line to get approved as well since I was denied at first. They really understand if you just reason with them. I need to ask for a CLI soon from them since Citi Forward just got discontinued after I just got it...
