3.5k is a decent starting limit. Do you really need 5k limit?

There's litle to be gained in charging more than $1500 a month on 5% categories with the Freedom, so a $3.5k CL seems adequate.

I had to call them, but I got approved for $500 after initially getting denied. Well, have the two cards I want. A chase card and an AmEx.
Discover More - $1000 (07/12)
Chase Freedom - $1000 (02/13)
American Express SPG - $2000 (08/13)
American Express Green Card - NPSL (12/12)

Yeah $3500 is a decent CL, but this would be my lowest card. All my cards are from $4600 - $7000. I use my CC for all my purchases. I do pay the bill off monthly, but I just don't want the utilization to be high when the card reports.

It was my experience with Chase (and others have reported the same on various forums) that they will usually give you 1 auto CLI within the first year of cardmembership. I went from $7,000 to $10,000 in 9 months. After that, all CLI's with Chase are at the cardholder's request and cost a hard inquiry.

If I requested a CLI on my own and it got approved, will they auto CLI me at all? Or not a chance?

It was my 11th month I believe after I opened my Chase Freedom card they gave me an auto cli from 3.5k to 5.5k within the first year of card membership. Chase was my lowest credit line and is now my second highest credit limit.
