Hmm... I was told the Chase Sapphire is plastic by a Chase rep. I'll have to call them back tomorrow. It looks like you're right about the Foreign Transaction Fee-- I'll correct that.

Thanks for your help!

The Chase Sapphire is indeed plastic. The Chase Sapphire Preferred is metal. These are two different cards.

Got the card, and it's plastic! Somewhat disappointed, but still a good looking one.

Anyone want a picture, or want to see what it looks like? They overnighted it to me, which was a nice surprise!

Here it is.

I'm going to call them and inquire about a metal card, although it doesn't really matter.

The CSP is the only one that is metal. They make it that way for a reason. Prestige.

Very nice! I could have sworn I've swiped regular Sapphires at work that had the Visa/MC logo and name and account number on the front of the card. Maybe I'm just imagining things.

But yeah as kcarter had said, only the CSP is metal.

You're not imagining things. The design was changed only recently, and the new cards look much, much better. My fiance's father had a Sapphire with the old traditional design, but it must have expired because now he has the updated design.

The upside to the current Sapphire card is that even if you can't get it in metal, it still looks identical to the Preferred version, so you've got yourself a baller looking card either way jriley!

Well, I really wasn't satisfied with the plastic card and foreign transaction fees, since I (on incorrect info) was told both of these were on the plain Sapphire.

I applied for a Sapphire Preferred, after being told I couldn't change to a Sapphire Preferred after the fact, and was approved for the new card, with the offer. I called in, and they said it would be expedited again.

I'll post a photo of the new one, again, but I'm going to cancel and cut up my old one as soon as I get the Preferred.
