Freedom Visa Sig no longer available?

Postby Freedomtodiscover » Fri Dec 14, 2012 2:08 pm

I called Chase trying to get my Visa Upgraded to a Visa Signature and they said it is longer available and only the Sapphire is eligible now. Anyone have success recently upgrading their signature?

That doesn't sound right to me. Think they're just saying that. Why wouldn't it be available?
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

Yea it didn't sound right to me either. They said I could only get the Sapphire in a Visa Signature (Which is a card I don't even have) wasn't sure if anyone else had any success getting it upgraded within recent months.

Oh, now that makes sense. Sapphire only comes in Signature, but Freedom, for instance, can be Signature or not. That's what they meant.

Yeah but after a year people reported that they were able to get the Freedom card upgraded to a Visa Signature as long as they have at least a 5k limit. Maybe Chase stopped this is favor of the Sapphire.

I hope not, I have a Freedom that I want to be a Signature along with the CSP when I eventually apply for it...

Why would they stop it though? They just make more money every swipe if you have a signature

Read my thread here, I had the same exact scenario as you a few weeks ago:

http://creditcardforum.com/rewards/5928-does-anyone-have-visa-signature-version-freedom.html

Basically the last post I made was my last effort to get this converted to a Chase Freedom Signature, after 4-5 calls with 4-5 different answers I just didn't think it would be worth the hassle. However yesterday my dad received a call (not sure why they called him as opposed to my brother or me) telling him that my brother's request for the Freedom Signature had been approved and that they would be mailing him his new card in a few days.

Unfortunately given that I had made so many inquiries into this, I have no idea which one it was that did the trick. I really wish I had gotten that call instead of my dad cause I would've asked specifically what dept I was talking to and what the chain of events was that caused them to convert it.

Your best bet is just to keep calling and making the request and talking to different people and hope that one of them can get it done to you. Try asking them to send an e-mail to the marketing dept, if I had to guess that's what did it for me. If my situation proves anything though, they *CAN* do it
