New Chase CC - how long to appear in online banking?

Postby djrez4 » Fri Oct 12, 2012 11:50 am

I got my new CSP(s) (see the CSP MC vs. Visa thread for the weirdness) in the mail this week. They're not my first Chase card, but I don't recall how this worked last time.

How long after activation does it take for a new Chase CC to appear on my online banking webpage? We're going on 3 days, now, and nothing has shown up yet.

If memory serves, my last new Chase card popped up online right after the app. was approved. However, you might have to do yours manually, which shouldn't be a problem.

I just got a new Amex card and their protocol apparently is to require manual registration.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

My Chase Freedom showed up online the day I got it. It didn't have all the details, but it did show the card number and CL. It still doesn't update on on Mint or CreditKarma, but I assume I have to wait a bit longer.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Well darn. With Chase accidentally activating both cards for me, I'm not sure if I want to wake the monster by calling customer service.

I now have a vague recollection of having to call to get my Freedom working online as well. I tried adding it myself via the website, but I got an error message saying I couldn't add anything online and had to call in.

Same message this time. So, I'm on the phone now.

Verdict is - some small difference in how my address was entered into the system caused the cards to show up on a different profile. Service is combining everything. They appear now, but the two accounts have the same current balance. Maybe I didn't slip through the cracks after all. Getting transferred to the CC department now.

So, I didn't fall through the cracks at all.

I only have one CSP account. When I asked for the Visa, Chase created a "mirror account." I assume they do this so you can continue to use one card until the other arrives. The old card remains open for 60 days and then shuts down automatically. So, no double bonus miles. Bummer!

My next question was, how in the heck do I destroy the shiny metal MC? Chase is apparently aware of this issue. They're sending an envelope in which I can return the card to them for destruction.

Also, I think Shiny Metal MC is my new rapper name.
