How will applying for new credit card affect my credit score?

Postby cdogg » Wed Oct 10, 2012 9:03 am

Hi All, i currently have AMEX BCE, BOA power rewards, and Discover more. I am also banking with Chase for many years. I have about 19 years with AMEX and 2 years on the other two cards. Last night, i registered in Credit Sesame, my score is 819 (lot more than 784 in Karma). i am planning to dump my BOA card and apply for chase freedom. how much you think it will affect my score and do you think it is good idea to switch to freedom? have about 15k cl on boa, but they don't post your cl anyway.

BoA has been posting my credit limit so i would consider keeping it if it has no annual fee

It will probably knock off 10-15 points, 7 for the inquiry and another 7-8 for closing the account and opening a new one

You should consider getting an amex charge so that you can backdate and take advantage of your history with them to knock up your AAoA
Amex Zync - NPSL (Cleared up to 25k)
Amex BCE - 12000 limit
Amex BCP - 4200 limit
FIA Rewards Amex- 3500 limit
Chase Freedom - 2000 limit
Chase Slate - 2000 Limit
BoA Cash Rewards Privileges- 3000 limit
Barclaycard Rewards MC - 3000 limit
Discover IT- 3500 limit
Marriott PR- 5000 limit
21 years old with alot of life to spend ;)
Its not about the ending, its about the journey,
just as long as the ending is just as good
