Apple Passbook with Citi cards?

Postby amexcurious » Sat Sep 29, 2012 11:59 am

I've been using the Amex Passbook feature for the last few days, and it works great.

So far I haven't been able to find if Citi cards support the Passbook. Does anyone know?

Thanks.

I haven't seen any cards that support Passbook yet. It did work well for my boarding passes last weekend, though.

I spent 30 minutes on the phone this morning with a Citibank employee who kept telling me to take a picture of my Citicard from inside the Passbook. This is clearly wrong as you can't take a picture from inside the app. Does ANYONE know how to add a Citi Card? Also when entering a 2nd AMEX card, is there anyway to "name" the cards so that you can differentiate between the cards when paying?

That's how it's supposed to work. I'm going to update to iOS 8.1 over lunch and try it out. I'll report back.

So far, CSP, Freedom and Amex EDP added. You can definitely take a picture from inside the Passbook app. It was able to recognize all of the information on the front of my Freedom. The Amex EDP gave it some trouble because of the stupid silver-on-clear design. It was not able to scan the CSP at all.

Both Chase cards required secondary verification via text or email. Amex did not.

I only have a Citi business card with me and Citi doesn't seem to be supporting business cards at the moment. I was able to enter the card number and expiration date via camera, however. I don't have a second Amex with me. I did notice that Apple Pay recognized the card type - not just Amex or Visa, but Chase Freedom and Everyday - and used a graphic corresponding to the specific card. The app even designates that my Everyday is Preferred and my Freedom is a Visa Signature. I have to assume that a second Amex will use a different graphic if it's a different card.

Amex also shows me the last transaction on the card. Pretty neat stuff.

you have to go into settings, select Passbook & Apple Pay, and then add credit card and then you can either take a pic or enter in you credit card info. I've added my BOA Debit Card, AMEX Blue Cash Everyday and my Citibank TY Preferred and everything was added successfully. I didnt get to use Apple pay but I was next to a vending machine that excepts credit cards and I tapped my phone on the reader and apple pay asked which card did I want to use. Hopefully this was helpful

First you need to update to iOS 8.1, then you should be able to add some Citi cards.

I know, I see enough adds for adding Citi cards to apple pay.

But I don't have any Citi Cards. Or an iPhone.

If you're on 8.1 there's a camera icon to the right of the card number field.
