Elan Financial Services (and US Bank) auto CLIs

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Sep 17, 2012 11:19 am

I've seen posts on other boards from people who got an auto CLI from US Bank after a couple of months. YMMV of course, but I wanted to post that they auto CLI'd me from 12k to 14k a couple of weeks ago. I got the card in July so it was a bit less than 2 months, or 2 statements had cut.

Also Elan Financial which is part of US Bank also gave me auto CLIs on my Associated Bank cards. First they gave me a 1k auto CLI on my Signature Visa a couple of weeks ago (around the same time as the US Bank CLI) after 3 months. Then just last week, I logged into my Associated account and noticed it said the limit on my Platinum was 13.5k. I thought this has to be a mistake, but I got a letter in the mail same day saying they were increasing the limit to this. That's a 50% increase from the 9k it started at, and I have had it since last Decmember (2011).
Sadly the Platinum has no rewards so I don't use it much with two Signature Visas, but I put a recurring small monthly charge on it and pay as soon as the charge posts.

So I figured I'd share that for those who are interested in these cards. Elan and US Bank do periodically review accounts and may well give auto CLIs from my experience.

Congrats on the increases. I had seen on another forum where US Bank gave pretty substantial increases after just a month or so on the new Cash + card. Chase does the same thing: they approve you for a credit line, almost like training wheels, then after a few months they give you an increase and are able to do so because your income information is fresh. Generally speaking after a year though they would need to obtain updated income info. I know Discover, Citibank and others are currently sending emails or letters essentially pre approving existing cardholders for a CLI but the cardholder has to provide income info before it can be approved thanks to CARD Act.
