The card; the legend.

Postby jack pot » Fri Aug 10, 2012 1:52 pm

So I anxiously waited for my Sapphire preferred card for about a week. Having heard the card was made up of actual metal, I couldn't wait to get it. When it finally arrived I could tell through the envelope that it weighed considerably more than my other cards. I took the card out and to no surprise she was beautiful. With the number on the back the front is left with an uninterrupted gorgeous blue design.

I decided to finally use it for the first time later that night at an arcade/bar. I wondered to myself as I walked through the entrance If my new card could fetch me a compliment. I walked up to the counter to meet a younger girl. I told her what I wanted and handed over both, my Id and SP preferred card. She compared the names and took a second to check out the card. Handing it back she said "that's a really nice card!" and I couldn't help but to smile as I thanked her. Later that night I made one more purchase and she mentioned the card again. Telling me she had never seen one like it.

I got this card just for the bonus miles and some of the perks that go with it, but I think I am going to continue using the card. It looks and feels so awesome I just want to show it off.

This is utterly ridiculous...but I want this card now just to show it off. I admit this is utterly ridiculous, childish, and uncalled for.

Yo man i feel the same way LOL. this card seriously just looks s**y and feels nice. I went to a local gamestop and the guy needed to see my card and he gave me my receipt and said "and imma keep this" acting like he was putting it into his pocket cause he was shocked about the card haha

yes it sounds utterly ridiculous, childish, and uncalled for as you put it FB but haha it feels good man :P

btw i added an AU on my sapphire account, the AU also gets it in metal :)

only downside with this metal card is it scratches so easily. 3 swipes already got scratches haha. im waiting to go use it at a restaurant :P

oh btw Congrats on your new Sapphire :) saw your other post about Chase 10 & 10 Freedom haha

So as much as I like having my CSP for all its perks, I have to admit it has been real embarrassing of late to use for payment. It does look nice and I should know to expect this more, but I just can NOT stand servers treating me differently because of its unique design.

Ehh, maybe I should shape up its edges; I mean, it is metal :-P.

Here is the million dollar question: Is the regular sapphire card metal too? Or just the preferred? I can't justify the annual fee for the benefits...

Only the Sapphire Preferred is metal. And I should have been more clear before: the novelty wears off real quickly, at least with me.

Regular sapphire is not metal. And contrary to what some believe, you cannot downgrade a SP to Sapphire and keep the metal card. I have both cards, and they are nothing alike.

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred
