What are my chances of getting approved?

Postby tin369 » Fri Jul 27, 2012 1:39 pm

Hi all,

I have 2 cards.
Cap1 - 750 CL
Chase freedom- 3000 CL

I have a total balance of 1400

I am only 2 months into my job and my income is under 50k but close to it.

My CK score is 727. Do you guys think I have a chance of getting approved for Chase Sapphire Preferred. Or should I apply for Amex costco or amex gold and then wait and apply for CSP.

What are my chances of getting approved for Amex?

I think that you have a very good chance. However, when was the last time you applied for a card? Applying for too many cards at once, can be a bad thing.

To answer your question more directly, here's a bit of where you stand, in comparison to my experience with Amex. I am currently pre-approved for the gold premier, and platinum cards, and my TransUnion score is currently 721. I have two other cards, and my total credit limit (all cards) comes out to be at around $9k. My current income is also below 50k but definitely above 20k. I don't see why you wouldn't be a safe bet. Do keep in mind that I never have carried over a balance, I pay off in full every month. So that could also be a factor to weigh in. Good luck!

Honestly not a soul on the planet can really tell you what your odds are. We might think you have decent odds, but only those companies can decide that.

With Chase it depends on your history with them and your cards which we don't know. (How long you've had them open and payments etc). With Amex they have their own criteria. You could get one, both or neither. Only one real way to find out.

As membersince99 has stated, YMMV will definitely vary.

I just got approved yesterday for my Chase Sapphire. It wasn't an instant decision, i had the dreaded we will need to get more information wait 10 business days etc, so i decided to call in and it said i was accepted.

I applied with 40k income and have an avg 8 month AAOA and my CK score was 712.

On paper yes you do look like you have a good chance. But as membersince99 stated it all depends on your history. I was originally denied for their card back in February due to only 1 revolving account for only 1 year. Since then I added 3 more cards into my credit profile to show them more history and show them more accounts then just 1 credit card.

So since you only have 2 cards with $3750 balance, cant really say for sure if you would be accepted or denied.

how long have you had your freedom? would you be able to pay off your 1400 balance before applying?

what makes you interested in the Chase Sapphire?

think longterm!
Wells Fargo Student Credit Card Visa - $1300 (February 2011)
American Express Zync Charge Card (February 2012)
Chase Freedom Visa- $2000 5% rotating (April 2012)
Citi Forward Visa- $3000 - 5x at restaurants, amazon.com (April 2012)
Chase Sapphire Preferred Mastercard World Elite - $5000 (July 2012)

Credit cards left to attain
