Southwest Premier CC - High CL?

Postby DCDevil » Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:52 pm

Hey guys,

I applied for last week and was insta-approved for a SW Premier CC (I fly it a lot out of BWI). I finally got it today and saw that they gave me a CL of $14,500! Just by looking around at everyone's sigs, I see this is a pretty high number, ESPECIALLY given my credit portfolio.

I've had a Wells Fargo CC since I was in college in '08 with a CL of $4,000, and am an authorized user on 3 of my parents credit cards. I did just graduate college and am making around $85k/ my question is: was I given a high CL because they think I'm young and stupid and will rack up a huge bill (and thus let them incur interest), or because they took my AU accounts as my actual credit history? Prior to applying my TU score was 785.

I'm not complaining, just trying to figure out the method behind the madness!

yes I would say you did get lucky. congratulations on graduating from college. when I first applied for a credit card back in the late 80's around 1987 or 1989, I tried for the green american express card I got turned down. I even got turned down a few years later with the gold card on a couple of applications.

It might have something to do with you traveling on southwest. you said you fly out of BWI a lot, when you charge your tickets on your wells fargo card, southwest probably sees this and they want you as a card member. I do understand what you are asking, the 14,500 is a high limit this might be some kind of fluke, or they know something about your career, that made them say gee we should give this customer a 14,500 limit.
