When I got my Cash Rewards Visa I told the CSR that I wanted the account close before activation and specifically never to be reported to the credit bureaus. They didn't seem to give me any indication that it would be reported based on my request, but I guess we'll see in about a month's time.

Then they are probably good for it, and that's a great thing.

It is a nice card, but to be honest, it's basically a 1% card for me. Partly my own fault and partly the way the rewards are set up, but Chase Freedom and Discover More and Escape, heck even my Associated Signature give me more in rewards.

But hard to kick about the limit.

I'm curious about this Associated card you have MemberSince99. How is it?

It's through my bank, and it's serviced by Elan which is US Bank's credit network (the statement they sent me for my Cash + looks identical to my statement for Associated).

The platinum card has no rewards (although a nice limit) while the signature offers 3% groceries, 2% gas and 1% everything else. I don't use it enough to really rack up poins with it, so I haven't cashed in my rewards yet (don't even honestly know how much is there right now). So I don't even know for sure how you can redeem them, though I did see gift cards.

Not knowing, I went and looked at the rewards center. You can redeem them for gift cards but I see a cashback option as well. Not sure how it works. I had 4500 points. I'm guessing thats' equal to about 45 dollars.

Looking at Associated Bank's website, it says earn Triple rewards on gas, drug store, and grocery store. You sure it only earns 2% on gas?

Right now the way I look at it Associated Bank beats BofA 1-2-3 and AMEX BCE in terms of reward. Is the cashback redemption 1:1?

They must have changed that - when I applied it gave the breakdowns I mentioned, but when I just Googled it, it says what you said - triple points on those categories.

So I see unlimited 1% cash back and points based on purchase type.

When I went to redeem my points (I use the card so little I never have done this yet) I saw you can redeem quantities of 2500 points for 25 dollars, so it's 1:1 cashback, but you have to do it in increments of 2500 points. Plus according to the website you get a round trip airline ticket at 25,000 points.

So, given that plus it's a Signature, it does beat Amex BCE you are 100% correct. And every time I've called I've talked with an American, and that wasn't true even for my Amex BCP when I had that card.

Seems it is a bit better than I thought I just never really bothered with it once I got Amex and Discover. I would like to say I made a mistake in doing that and I have you to thank for pointing that out.
