Yeah afaik Visa Signature offers more than World MasterCard, so I would switch especially if you already have a World MasterCard with another lender. Good luck.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. After reading this thread I decided to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card on Chase's website. I was approved and I assume it will be a Visa based on previous comments. I'm curious as to what kind of metal these cards are made of, and if they will affect the magnetic strips on any of my other cards. Does anyone know?

Won't mess with your other strips. I'm not sure what it's made out of.

Interesting twist in my CSP saga - I received both the Visa and MC versions today in the mail. MC came with the benefits book. I got a paid of Visas in a separate envelope. On a whim, I thought, why not activate both? So, I called into card services and activated the Visa via a representative. I then called into the automated service and activated the MC. I made quick stop by the grocery store to purchase some things and tried the MC at self checkout - you know, to avoid any embarrassment. Purchase approved. Then, I went to pick up dinner and put it on the Visa. Purchase approved.

Did I fall through the cracks and get two for the pull of one? Double bonus - 80k bonus UR points when I spend $6k in 3 months? If so, it certainly solves my whole Visa vs. MC dilemma! I'll end up canceling one of them, likely the MC, before the fee hits. But, SCORE! (I think)

I certainly seems that way, in which case, congrats on the extra bonus and card.

Did you get twice the credit line?

Neither has appeared on the Chase website, yet. I'm waiting until they both appear to go whole hog on making those spends. They both list "access lines" of $5k. Assuming all goes well, once the spend is done, I'll try to close the MC and combine the two.

I can also confirm with 100% certainty that the MC is a World, not a World Elite.

And, to update, when you request a change from MC to Visa with Chase, they create a mirror account to which both cards report. The old card stays open for 60 days and then shuts down automatically.

Visa Signature states up to max $500 purchase protection

Purchase Security | Visa Signature

World MC states up to $3000 max

MasterCard ® | World MasterCard®

If I have a CSP World MC, does this mean i'm covered up to $3000 purchase protection?

Just got my Sapphire card in. A little disappointed that the card isn't metal - guess that's just the preferred cards. Still a badass looking card.

Yeah, I had the same letdown a year ago when I got the regular Sapphire, not the preferred. Sucks that they don't let you upgrade right away; you have to reapply or wait a year before upgrading.
