Thank You Preferred vs. Diamond Preferred - Which Would You Use?

Postby Dylan1982 » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:37 pm

I just got both of the above mentioned cards, but I was wondering, which card would you use if you were going to go out to dinner?

I would assume the TY Preferred bc of the TY Points?

Another question, what is the thank you website to see the retailers to use to get more TY points? I know there is www.thankyou.com - that is to redeem points. What is the website that over 600 retailers use to earn more points using the TY website?

Thanks guys!

I'm not familiar at all with the Diamond card other then it's a citibank card. But to answer your question
I guess I would go with the thank you card because like what you said the thank you points.

If your after rewards, than I would go with ThankYou, but if yow want other perks go with Diamond. I have had the card for 6 years. It looks cool as well.

The only context where I would personally choose the DP over the TY is if I was making a retail purchase of a product that I believe is likely to go on sale shortly thereafter because of the 60 day price protection. Obviously this doesn't apply in a going out to dinner situation so the TY has my vote.

The Thank You card is also price protected for 60 days as well.

How does it work? I cannot find a lot of info on it. Let's say I buy a tv using the TY or DP card and the tv is $1,000. Next week that same tv went in sale for $950. Do I call up CitiBank and let them know I bought a tv at price A and went on sale for price B and the difference was $50?

Yeah basically. I believe they'll ask you to supply a print ad showing the price difference and they'll credit you that difference.

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. Once I pay off my small balance on it I really don't see it getting much use, if any.
