Yes, someone, perhaps you, posted that BofA is going to start issuing EMV chips 7/17. Glad to see that EMV is slowly starting to spread. Unfortunately they are Chip + Signature.....
World Elite: So I called Citibank 4/24 (power went out and I was bored) and spoke to a regular CSR (from India). Big mistake. She told me my Dividend World MasterCard was not eligible and the only way to make it eligible was to upgrade to World Elite. I didn't really want World Elite as that would have caused a new 5466 16 account number (mine is 5424 18) but to get the Chip I was willing. So she said it would take 45 days for the upgrade. S
o on 6/9 I check my online account management; account number ended in the same 4 as before and there was no note on the account regarding a new card having been sent. So on 6/11 I took the advice of some people on MyFico that said to contact them via Twitter. Normally the Twitter team will send a secure link to do an online chat (same password as online account management) but it was not working that day. So a rep called me at home. He was American and knew exactly what I was after. So I heard him typing away on the keyboard and then he tells me that my new Chip card would be sent within 5 days. Note: I did tell him that I could care less about the World Elite upgrade and that my primary concern was to get the EMV chip without having to change from Dividend, and he must have taken that to heart because exactly 5 days later in my mailbox was my normal, Dividend World MasterCard with the same 5424 18 account number only it had the EMV chip.
If I weren't so attached to my account number (memorized since 2000) I would have been bummed because the silver MasterCard logo is hot. As it is, my Dividend is sockdrawered in favor of my BankAmericard Cash Rewards card. I have not been happy with the Dividend's 5% bonus catagories this year. Through September, Citibank has not/will not offer(ed) gas or groceries in 2012! I do recommend the @AskCiti team on Twitter-they were AWESOME and restored some of the faith in Citibank that I had lost in them over the years.
