Sears MasterCard good or bad choice?

Postby vivian » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:04 am

I'm planning on getting a Sears MasterCard. Does anybody have experience with this card or reviews to share? Are you happy using it?

Why are you specifically planning on applying for the Sears MasterCard? Making a large appliance purchase?

Pro's: 0% financing offers; issued by Citibank

Con: Higher ongoing APR

You have to apply in-store and you have to be an American citizen. Both could be a challenge if you are in the UK.

Now this is the definition of a store credit card! To be honest with you I don't see to many people using this card. But then again I'm not in every place all the time. I might have seen some people use this card at Sears but not like the people who have an American Airlines Citibank card.

Do you work for Sears? Does the card give 0% interest free for the first year? Are you planning on buying a expensive item?

This certainly isn't the worst credit card but I don't have it myself. My friend and accountant had a Sears, not sure if it was the charge card or the Mastercard you are thinking of, but either way he canceled it.

Unless you're in the US or Canada getting deferred payments on a big purchase I don't see why a Sears card would be in the cards.
