Interesting.

It is not a charge card. Any Visa Signature or World MasterCard/World Elite MasterCard can say "no preset spending limit" due to what they call expansion. The expansion allows for purchases above the account's set credit line. Any amount charged in excess of the set credit line would be due in full. For example, if you have a $10,000 set credit line and you spend $15,000 your minimum due would be 2% of the $10,000 + $5,000 = $5,200. Most banks allow up to twice your revolving credit line as expansion depending on your credit, the way you use the account and stated income.

Called this morning again same deal, so I just upgraded my Simplicity world to Thankyou Preferred Word, 45 days. At least I will earn ThankYou points vs BS citi cash. So lets see what they send me. If they send me world, i will wait few months, than I will see if I can have the Thankyou world upgraded to world elite.

Oh good they allowed you to PC to the Thank You card. Did you ask right off the bat for the World Elite? In the past, when I would do a PC it was instant so I am wondering due to the 45 day deal if they already put through the request for World Elite. I am only 18 days into the 45 days for World Elite....

I didn't ask for Elite right way. Just asked them to upgrade me to Thank You. Once that was done, I asked them for the Elite for my Diamond card, then she says, you only get invited to those. So lets see what I get in the mail, for my thank you. I will let you know, when it arrives. Yea I am not sure about the 45 day deal either. I didn't ask too many question when she said 45 days.

Does anyone know what it takes to get an invite? I don't necessary need/want an Elite branded MasterCard, although I am curious. Jacob you have one of these MasterCards, any thoughts?

I would imagine a lot of spending and of course a great credit score. I had used my Dividend as my main card from 2005 through March of this year but only for regular living expenses of about $1,000 a month.

I had heard of people just receiving the World Elite in the mail (along with an Amex version tied to the MasterCard account). So they weren't even really invited, they just got it.

I will have to wait and see what they do with my upgrade request. At this point I almost don't want it. I have switched to my BankAmericard Cash Rewards (Freedom for 5% catagories).

Spoke to account manager today very knowledgeable and helpful. Only elite card they offer without annual fee is the Dividend card. And to qualify for the elite, its all depends on your spending, and not the limit on the card. Well it has to be $5K and above to be eligible. So I am thinking about canceling my upgrade to Thankyou card and switch it over to citi Divided World, and make it my primary card. And hopefully I will be able to get the elite status someday. @CC post a pic when you get the card. Searched the web, can't seem to find any pic. And to clarify the 45 days, its how long you have if you want to change your mind, and cancel your request. Its also true its take 45 days to get the elite card.

Here is a link obtained from another forum (shows a picture of the Dividend World Elite):

https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/pdf/divworldELITEmc_welcome_kit.pdf

The only real difference in terms of appearance between World and World Elite is that right above the account number it says World Elite. A poster from that other forum put in a request for World Elite back in March and he finally received the card last week. He was disappointed to find out that the card looked exactly like the one in that welcome kit link above. Unlike other World Elite issuers, Citibank apparently does not make the MasterCard logo on Dividend World Elite metallic silver. He also said that the card came without the Global Chip that he asked for. He stated that he called right away and the rep informed him that a chip card will be sent. I have very little faith in Citibank's customer service to be honest. Really any big banks customer service. At least with Chase you can email a CSR and they follow through. When I email Citibank they respond, "please call customer service regarding this issue." One of many reasons my Dividend has been sockdrawered. Citibank used to be really awesome. I used to love them. I don't hate them mind you, but I no longer love them.

I am still trying to decide if I want to call them and cancel the upgrade or not. I mean, since I am no longer really using the card, it is kind of a waste and is costing them money, plus I am kind of attached to my account number. On the other hand, what is the harm in a new account number if it gives me all the World Elite features with no annual fee? This is what happens when the power goes out and you get bored and call the credit card company LOL.
