I need a Chase Slate
to do a balance transfer. Already have a Freedom. Will I get approved and does Chase let you do transfers to another Chase card? Just out of curiosity. FICO is 630-650ish.
Nope. Most credit card issuers have verbiage in the offer that you cannot transfer the balance from an existing card with that bank/credit union to a new account. Also 630-650 FICO is pretty low for Chase. If you do get approved, it will likely be for a small limit.
This is what it says on a balance transfer offer that they sent me in the mail on my Slate: "Transactions from this offer that are made payable to Chase, Bank One of First USA or one of our other related banks or companies may be declined."
Interesting that they put the "may be" declined.
Now, you can skirt this by making the balance transfer check payable to you, deposit it your bank and then write a personal check to Chase for the Freedom balance. I did that last summer in fact. But in terms of a new app, I am pretty sure they will decline the balance transfer request.
Chase Slate is worthless overall and I HATE HATE HATE that verticle design (I made them send me a normal looking one).
I would instead see about having Citibank offer you a balance transfer on your existing Citibank card. A new account will drop your FICO score even more.
