I was denied for Chase Sapphire. Need advice please!

Postby Regnohspf » Tue Feb 21, 2012 11:03 pm

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but I've been visiting and been viewing all the helpful posts.

I would appreciate any advice or help on this topic. I just recently applied for the Chase Sapphire card, not the preferred. My application was recently declined due to young credit history (1.1 yrs). I've read on different posts about the success of reconsideration for different cards. Would anyone be reconsidered for this card even with such young credit history?

Again any advice would be appreciated :) thanks in advance!

If you only have one year of credit history, you are going to have a difficult time obtaining prime cards like that. Chase especially is the most prime of the prime banks. I believe (but not 100% positive) that the Chase Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred are always Visa Signature/World MasterCard so you would need to qualify for a $5,000 credit line.

Since you have already taken the hit with the inquiry, it certainly does not hurt to call the backdoor number and ask for a recon. If they cannot accept you for the Sapphire at this point, ask them if they will consider you for the Slate or Disney using the same application and inquiry. Walking away with a $500 credit limit Slate wouldn't be the worst thing since you could always do a product change to Sapphire down the road.

I do not know how many credit cards you currently have; but it would be good to have two or three for a few years managemed responsibly before you attempt Chase Sapphire.

I've called into recon and they wouldn't which is no big deal but i also asked them if they could take my same application and inquiry and move it to the chase freedom and they flat out told me no, even the supervisor and they said that its not possible to do that and that i would need to re-apply online or at a branch.

I'm not sure whats the truth haha. I've read in several places that they are able to do that but they're telling me no. any luck with that before?

thanks for your response :)

Your credit report is empty which is why you were turned down. I went through with this in the 80's if your report is empty you need to go to your local bank, maybe TD, KeyBank, etc.

If you still can't get a card you then need to try a bank called Orchard, they have low credit limits but they are for people like you.

If this doesn't work try a store charge card. Do you have a favorite store? Somebody will give you a card. You said you have young credit do you have any cards at all?

First of all how many credit cards do you have? Second of all do you travel on business?

Just because those morons send you offers it doesn't mean you need to apply. I have gotten offers from Citibank for the American Airlines and I will never apply for this card.

To answer your question you need at you should have at least 1 or 2 cards from a major bank or finincial instuttion.

If you don't travel why do you want this card? If you just go on vacation and you like United just use your own private card.

But if you do travel on business and go on vacations then I understand. Do you know what the annual fee is?
