Any thoughts on a MasterCard that sends coupons to cardholders?

Postby Money card » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:28 pm

I'm looking for a Mastercard. I don't need a cash back card. What I'm actually looking for is a credit card company that sends us coupons in the Mail.

For anybody who has a Discover more card and uses the card for shopping, restaurants and gas stations they get coupons. I've gotten 15% off 1 item at Barnes and Nobles
$10 off a purchase of 30.00 or more at Kohls. $10 off a purchase of $50 or more at Van Huesen, Izod and Bass.

I know there's no difference between Mastercard and Visa, but because I always had a Visa I would rather get a Mastercard. In the past I always had a Visa I started out with a first fidelity visa, then got a bank card called First card, then bank 1 took over, then finished up with Chase and they were all Visa. So I'm interested in getting a Mastercard.

Plus I already have 2 travel cards and 1 cash back card. The travel cards I have are capitol1 Venture Visa, Green American Express, for cash back I have a
Discover More.

I really like getting coupons in the Mail so I'm wondering if anybody can suggest a good cash back card that a bank would send some coupons in the Mail?

I have pretty much all the major bank cards; Capital One, Citibank, Chase, BofA and none of them send me coupons. I have heard that BofA is testing an extra benefit that tracks your spending and sends offers based on those purchases, and Chase is doing something similar. This is not tied to a Visa or MasterCard though, simply based on the bank. And with BofA and Chase you would have to apply through MasterCards website links or call to get the MasterCard as BofA and Chase primarily market Visa.

Coupons + mail is also an antiquated notion to be honest. Perhaps they would send an email with a coupon to be printed but in this day and age I can't imagine too many financial institutions would be sending coupons in the mail.

CC are you like my father who only uses credit cards for grocery stores, gas stations, checking in at hotels and going to restaurants?

Or are you like me, like I have said before with my Discover card I have gotten coupons from Barnes and Nobles, Kohls, Bass and recently Evelyn and Crabtree (used Saturday to buy mom a early mothers day gift).

With my Dad he doesn't shop, my mom does the shopping and she doesn't have any Discover card. so me and my Dad have the same level but different design. But I get coupons and he doesn't .

Are you like me do you shop? or are you like my dad who uses your credit cards for everything else but shopping?

I primarily use my cards like a debit card for things (utilities, groceries and gas). But occasionally yes I do have to buy clothes and what not.

I largely stopped using my Discover Card because their Cashback Bonus is a joke comparred to Chase, Citibank, Amex and BofA. The only coupons I ever got from them or any other credit card company was for Hertz rental card and Omaha Steaks.

I dislike shopping greatly but I will occasionally have to buy things. I mostly shop at Macys and Kohls and I use their cards for those purchases.
