Can you change/convert to a different Chase credit card?

Postby stefunny21 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:02 pm

How long should I wait before trying to make a product change/conversion from Slate to Sapphire or Freedom? My slate account is pretty new. My TU score is 741, the others are 737. Thanks!

If it's something you want to do, then I would call and ask them about it. I don't see why there would be a problem. I've never had any difficulty doing same or shifting credit line from one Chase card to another. The exception is co-branded cards like the Chase These are separate from the Chase-branded cards.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

If your Slate is under a year old, you cannot PC to a Chase card with an annual fee (like Sapphire Preferred or an airline card). This is due the CARD Act. Other than that, you should not have any issues.
