Declined/denied for Citi Forward...now what?

Postby commdiver » Mon Dec 05, 2011 7:40 am

Citi said they could not approve my application because the information that I provided did not match what they were given by Equifax. What exactly does that mean? Should I just reapply, or should I wait?

I would pull the Equifax report and see what is there. I would look for fraud, misreported limits and faulty payment information. This would raise a major red flag in my head if they were saying that something on my report was not matching my application.

I could not find anything. All that is on there is my student credit card and my Chase Freedom card, which I applied and was approved for a few weeks ago. Citi, Chase, and Charles Schwab (for their checking account) are the only ones to have made inquiries within the last two years.

Am I missing something?

Just to give an update, I ended up reapplying and also applying for the Discover More card, which I got approved for a few hours later. I am guessing I might have made a typo or something in my initial Citi Forward application.

I applied again and got the card. The phone call took almost 30 minutes, but it was worth it (considering that I now get year-round 5% cashback on restaurants, Amazon, and music stores).
