CSR Trip Protection is a Joke

Postby scarpa » Thu Jun 08, 2017 10:33 am

Sapphire Reserved is tooted as such a great card yet their 'Trip Protection' is horrible. My aunt had a horrible accident while we were on vacation and ended up in the hospital so I had to move our flight one day later. They don't pay any medical bills or the difference in flight cost to move the trip one day. I called Citi Prestige and they would have reimbursed the difference. Anyone know who I can appeal to? I am so disappointed and also out over $2k for 4 ticket moves. :( :money:

Did they deny your claim because the injury caused a delay of less than 24 hours? Or the injury didn't involve death or the loss of a limb/sight/speech/hearing?

That really sucks, I hope your aunt is OK.

Trip protection doesn't cover medical expenses anyway -- just the travel expenses you incurred because of an injury. But I'm curious about why they didn't cover the cost of moving the flights. I'm looking at the benefit terms right now, and it seems like this is a pretty obvious case where the CSR's Trip Interruption coverage SHOULD apply.

What exact reason did they give for denying the claim?
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

I don't think it will cover medical expenses directly, but it can provide a cash payment if you get a major injury (like losing an eye or hand) while traveling on a common carrier. There can be exclusions for taxis and rental cars.
