Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Signature Credit Limit

Postby 17thWhitePrince » Tue Aug 30, 2016 3:29 am

I applied in person at a local branch this past Friday for the Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Signature card and was approved for 4k CL. Am just wondering when to expect to see the card in the mail. Also, is a 4k CL a Signature or do I need to get a CLI to 5k to reach that title?

Typically, you need a 5k limit to get a Visa Signature, so I would say expect a Visa Platinum in this case.

However it has been somewhat relaxed over time, so that's not 100%. People get approved for Amazon Visa cards below 5k and still get a Signature sometimes. So really, who knows, but I'd say expect a Platinum and be happily surprised if you get the Signature.

Doesn't matter with a number of creditors these days. Would you really benefit from the Signature tier benefits or is this just a vanity thing?

Threads about getting VS/WEMC vastly outnumber threads about ever using the perks.

Assuming people are at least as interested in sharing a story of using the perks as they are in sharing the story of getting VS/WEMC, that strongly suggests that most credit geeks who seek VS/WEMC out never or rarely use the perks. So while people talk about it a lot (and I once did, too) it doesn't mean there's much substance to VS/WEMC.

Compare that to threads about premium cards, in which people talk about using the perks often.

Maybe you're an exception, though, and would use VS perks.

I guess it's more of a vanity thing.
Now I am a tad OCD and I want to have at least one of each particular brand of c/c just to have my bases covered just so in the off chance I could use it, I would. I definitely would love to take advantage of whatever the c/c offers and the perks associated with that particular card. My c/c's don't collect dust lol !!

That being said, the WEMC is completely outside my range of spending and usage so that is definitely something I'm not seeking to acquire; however a WMC is what I'll be striving to get next year come January.. - a Cash-Back WMC.

You do not need to get a high AF card to get WEMC. My AA Platinum Select card just got converted to WEMC.

Well.. now I know =)

Also, I received my Freedom Unlimited card in the mail yesterday and sure enough it was a Visa Platinum and not the Signature like I wanted. I called Chase thereafter and requested a CLI to at least 5k to qualify for it and was shortly approved thereafter for 6k.. HA! So now I wait for that card in the mail.

Now.. I'm happy =D

I think I might start a thread like the monthly Garden one that is dedicated to talking about using the perks that come along with various tiers of cards. I bet there isn't enough activity to sustain it...

Did you just ask for the CLI, or also for the Vanity Signature upgrade?

I'm not sure exactly what the upgrade rules are, but I know that not every $5k+ Freedom is automatically VS. Maybe all cards issued as $5k+ Freedoms are, but PCs and CLIs complicate things.

That would be something I would totally dig deep into. I've done some research but not a whole lot. I'm always willing to learn.
