Only reason I could think of is if you have multiple AUs since the CSR costs $75 per AU. If you have more than one and they do not need or care about the better benefits then it may not be worth the extra costs.

Other than that the CSR is an upgraded version of the CSP so if you do not have an AU then there is no reason to keep paying the $95 AF.

Ok.. very far behind on this. Just discovered it and applied. I will have to wait for them to contact me as I keep my credit locked.. cheaper then identity insurance. I have a SP now and plan if approved to transfer all of my mileage to southwest and then transfer credit limit to new card and cancel it out. based on my credit calculator, should effect my score no more then 5 points and I will recover it quickly. Thoughts?

Can you make proper use of the annual travel credit?

If so, why not keep it and move the CSP limit around?

EDIT:

Yea. I just reread your post. Cancel this post.

I'm not sure what SW miles are typically worth. How would it compare (in terms of value and simplicity) to booking flights through Chase at 1.5 cpp? Somewhere I picked up the idea that SW had a rewards program that was simple but offered limited mile value...not sure if that's true or not.

In my experience over the years I get incredibly more bang for my buck by using through Southwest. Their points are usually worth much more then $1.25. I have flown one way for as little as 3336 from Austin TX to Denver CO. Cheapest ticket was $69. I now have or will have after spending 4k 136,k miles? :) that will fly me for a while.

Ok, I got the Reserve Sapphire. 15k limit.. so when I transfer my 45k will have 60k. Anyone have experience on what they will do for the milage? Will they transfer my points to my reserve or should I off load into my Southwest account? Just waiting until the last of my bonus points are loaded onto my preferred to do it. By the way.. they overnighted me the card. That was pretty cool.

Before closing CSP, transfer URs from your CSP account to your CSR account. Each card that earns URs has its own account.

CSR gives 1.5 cpp on "pay with URs" travel bookings; CSP gives 1.25. Still, both are less than it sounds like you get with SW.

Instead of moving the entire $45k CL and closing your CSP, you might consider keeping $5k of credit or so in the account and PCing it to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited. You could then move those points to your CSR UR account (and then to SW).

As soon as my account settles out, they have agreed to transfer my limit and points over. :) Thanks for the suggestions! I don't want another card to carry though. I use my sapphire for business (3% restaurants and travel), my AMEX for 6% back for groceries, Costco for 4% back on Costco combined with exec membership and 4% cash back on gas and 3% cash back on non business restaurants and Citi cash back for 2% on everything else. on average get about 3.2% or around $3200 per year give or take. :) I could probably do more with discover or freedom but just not worth the extra hassle :)
