Target MasterCard Upgrades

Postby CC Deville » Tue Jun 14, 2016 3:53 pm

So some people at MF are reporting that they have received a notice that their Target Red Cards will be upgraded to a Target Red Card MasterCard. Given that Target is pushing Chip + PIN on their Red Cards, does anybody know if these Target MasterCard upgrades are going to be Chip + PIN by default?

I am not registered at MF so I ask here.

Everyone who had a Visa now has a MasterCard. Although if they are issuing MasterCards to everyone else (or at least those will a favorable profile), then I will be very interested.
American Express: Blue Cash Everyday (10k), Everyday, ; Discover It (7.3k) ; Target (2.1k)

Citi: Diamond (2k) ; Bank of America: Cash Rewards (2.6k) ; Capital One: Quicksilver (3k) , Sony ; Chase: Freedom (3.7k), Slate (3k), (Amazon) ; Barclay Ring ; Synchrony: Walmart MC, Amazon, Ebates

Correct; the Visa's were changed to MasterCard; however, now some people with the regular store card are being upgraded to the MasterCard. The only reason I would be interested is if they are priority Chip + PIN. Nobody has mentioned it so they are probably Chip + Signature....

Yeah, and they are Chip + PIN-even though they can only be used at Target, which is why I am wondering what their MasterCard's EMV is like.
