Citi Double Cash CLI?

Postby GoCreditGo! » Mon Jun 13, 2016 11:48 pm

Has anyone gotten one? I'm stuck in the $1200 limit world and I don't want to do a hard pull to get them to increase it. I can't do much with $1200.

True it is kind of limiting

I got mine over a year ago it started with a 6500 limit.

I checked for a soft pull increase six months later but wasn't eligible so I agreed to a hard. Since I was taking the hit I asked for 15000 and it was granted.

Just within the last month they gave me an auto increase to 17500.

The key here is I've carried an interest free balance. My data point on that is to them a balance is a balance and they like that because they called me one of their best customers when they gave me the increase. I thought you haven't made much money on me but cool.

I am just about to pay that before the zero percent runs out.

Anyway you probably have to take a hard pull. I don't know your situation but sounds like that is your best bet. Otherwise put spend on it and check later.

I carry a balance on the card. Well, it's a credit on the card. I regularly over pay that card, just so I know I can charge $1200 on it at a time and not have it decline. I could call them and see if they will increase the limit using a soft pull. It doesn't hurt to ask. You're lucky to get such a high limit on yours.

Nah, sorry you can't get the limit up, dude. Mine started at $8100 (really lucky on that one), but I've only seen 4 other people start out with high limits on the card.

You most certainly can get a CLI with this card. Give it some time and some responsible use. They allow SP CLI requests every six months usually after a year of having the card.

I got mine as a Diamond Preferred in 2013 and PC'd to a Double Cash. I don't carry much of a balance, but have never received a CLI. I've asked for a CLI every six months, but I'm declined due to a charge off every time. Citi bought the Best Buy store cards, and I had a fiasco with one, so I'm at my max with Citi for the next few years, and that's fine by me.

Have you had any charge offs/bad debt in the past? My double cash record is squeaky clean, but I had a few baddies a few years ago that are still haunting me. If Citi acquired any bad debt (even resolved), it could be hurting you.

I would request the CLI online, as it's a soft pull, and find out what's holding you back if you get denied. At least you'll know where you stand with them and what they may not like.
Scores on the mend...
FICO: 650 (Discover/TU, 6/23/2016)
Cards I Use Citi Double Cash, Chase Amazon, Capital One QuickSilver
Sock Drawer Discover IT, Citi Diamond Preferred, AE Visa, QuickSilver One, Walmart CC, CareCredit, CreditOne (keeping for history for now)
Short Goal Reach 680

It's not necessarily a soft pull, but it will absolutely tell you if it is not.
