Chase Sapphire Preferred arrived!

Postby TXviking » Sun Apr 24, 2016 11:22 pm

Got my new CSP card just before leaving for Norway. Managed to pay two bills in the US before I left, but the rest has been foreign spend so far.

I've been careful to get transactions done in local currency (thanks for that tip!) and chip+signature has been no issue everywhere I tried it so far.

Loving the card so far. Including the perhaps gimmicky metal construction. :D

The direct-to-CSR 800 number is great too. I was a bit disappointed, though, when on my very first call when I had to sit through a recording that I had been picked (lucky me!) to take part in a "brief survey". :beat: :beat: :beat:

 Yea it's an awesome card. It's my go to card for the next month to get the reward points.

Funny thing, I received a second one in the mail today. I applied last Tuesday morning, was approved a couple of hrs later in the afternoon & Wednesday at 7am I called to get it expedited and received it on Thursday morning. I had no idea they were sending me two cards but hey more "metal" for me :lift: .

Njoy your card & Njoy Norway.

In my experience, calling to ask for an expedited CSP results in receiving an extra in the mail. I ended up bringing it to a Chase branch to be destroyed. Don't try to shred it! (My dad broke a shredder that way.)

Glad I didn't ask for an expedite then! The card ended up arriving via regular mail two days before departure, so it worked out.

I asked for expedited shipping the day after instant approval and only got one card (via UPS). This was in Jan 2015. I think getting two cards is fairly unusual (or at least it was then), since most people who want faster shipping request it before Chase actually gets around to sending it USPS.

Definitely don't try to shred it. In fact, I wouldn't try to shred a plastic card, either. I use heavy-duty scissors for plastic cards.

I think if you ask for expedited shipping quickly, you won't get two cards. You'll get the card via UPS.

If you ask after the original card has already been created/mailed, then yes, you could end up with two.

It's nice Chase does expediting though, as other issuers either make it a major pain or just don't offer it. It's pretty simple with Chase.

I've shredded plastic cards with no problem. It probably depends on the shredder (and mine my no means is some industrial strength beast), but my shredder takes them no problem.

Well I thought I did it quickly. Was approved on tuesday afternoon around 2pm and called Wednesday at 7:30am for them to expedite it assuming the card hadnt been shipped, matter fact I assumed the card hadnt even been created.

The 2nd card has been destroyed with some heavy duty scissors

Citi is notoriously slow and won't expedite. It's annoying. There was a time last year where they were taking 2 or 3 entire weeks to ship cards.
