I've shredded plastic cards with no problem. It probably depends on the shredder (and mine my no means is some industrial strength beast), but my shredder takes them no problem.

I recently added an AU on CSP, and saw that the new card has "Contains metal - Do not shred" on it. That's a change since 1/2015. They also included an envelope for sending back any expired metal cards (even though the original primary and AU cards are still valid).

Citi is notoriously slow and won't expedite. It's annoying. There was a time last year where they were taking 2 or 3 entire weeks to ship cards.

Barclaycard is especially bad. Even on AF cards, unless you pay an extra shipping fee, they can take 3 weeks. Some people get in over their heads with Arrival+ when they realize they have more like 2 months than 3 to spend $3k.

One nice thing about Citi cards is that the minimum spend window is extended a bit so the customer gets a full three months. My beef is mostly with the competence of customer service.

I wanted to chime in on the delivery time. I applied yesterday and was approved in a matter of a few seconds, I called today in the evening after reading on the Chase website that delivery could take between 1-2 weeks. The nice lady on the phone told me they can send it out via UPS (no signature required) and I should have it on Tuesday. Today is Thursday evening and Monday is a holiday, that's practically overnight in my book. I only wish I would have applied a day earlier or we didn't have a holiday, I fly out on Tuesday - just my luck!
