Capital One CLI soft pull? Will inquriry show?

Postby nitsugua23 » Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:13 am

So I just applied for a CLI with cap1 venture Visa card and got approved. YAY ME! Lol I was wondering if anyone knows if they do soft pulls and if so will the inquriry still show up on my credit report? On their website it says "Checking your eligibility will not effect your credit score." Checking if you're eligible and actually getting approved are two different things though. Thanks in advance.

No idea if they SP or HP for hard pulls. Just picking nits with your wording. Both HP's and SP's will show up on your reports but only you can view the SP's and generally only by pulling the report directly with the CRA. The SP's do not have a scoring impact.

I've done at least 5 CLI's in the last 12 months with Cap1 and no SP. 3 approved 2 denied. It will not affect you in any way wether granted the CLI or denied.

The SPs will be visible to YOU if you pull your own reports, but other creditors cannot see them.

In any case, if you were planning to ask now, Capital One almost always requires the account be 6 months old before granting a CLI.

Apparently the 6 month rule applies to the time in between CLIs as well. Just got off the phone with them and they just won't budge. I've had wives who were less stubborn.

I had 3 CLIs in 12 months. My last one was a month ago and they told me "try for another one in 3 months".

They are a very computer based company. The computer is programmed to only allow a CLI every 6 months so almost always the CSRs will stay behind that (perhaps they cannot override it).

The EO can override it and do a manual CLI more often but other than that it's 6 months between increases.

In some cases like mine, they granted me a CLI after only 3 months, another one the following month and another one 6 months later. Just throwing it out there...

My girlfriend got a QS1 a year ago and they've bumped her up several times automatically. I have to request all CLIs with Capital One.

I just chatted with one of the representatives, and according to her, it should be a soft inquiry on the credit report.
Although I am very skeptical about it, I submitted the credit limit increase button.
Now waiting some time to check my report to see if it actually is a soft inquiry.
