Citi Price Rewind and generic item descriptions

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Sun Feb 07, 2016 1:35 pm

I bought a laptop battery directly from Dell.com. I gave Dell.com my computer's service tag, and it specified which replacement battery I should get. I paid with my Citi AA Platinum.

I went to Citi Price Rewind...and there are several items in the Citi database that have the same very generic "Dell 85 WHr 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery" description. The item descriptions do not include part model numbers.

Advice? A number to call? Should I make multiple claims for the different items and just see which one gives the best savings? Pick one, hope for the best, and move on?
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

My reply is probably too late but FFO: I've had poor luck with Citi Price Rewind. I bought a laptop and found a few different descriptions for it. I submitted a watch for two of the descriptions. One wasn't triggered and one was.

First I got a letter that my receipt wasn't visible. So I called in and was told to fax the receipt into their management office.

Then I got a letter saying the lower price offer was for a different model. ?????.

I ultimately dropped the request. The potential for a $90 refund was lost but I decided my time was worth more. Also, waiting for letters was rediculous IMO. Dragged out the process (need to file a claim within 30 days I think).

Would be interested to hear success stories.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).

Unfortunately, most of the time these warranties/price protection/whatever are not simple to use, probably because Citi would rather you say "too much hassle" and don't end up actually using it, but they get to advertise the benefit.
