Cap1 Showing Some Christmas Love

Postby im_mr_awesome » Fri Dec 25, 2015 11:38 pm

Cap One just soft pull CLI'd me $1000 on my classic platinum card. Nice little Christmas gift from a Grinch-like lender! Although, they've given me more CLI love than anyone else...ever.

This comes just 6 months (ish) after another $500 on the same card. They're doing alright by me, seeing I PIF that card anyway. YMMV, I guess!

Hopefully after 12 months I can axe anything under $2k! Looking forward to finally being off the training wheels.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Enjoy but it's not about love or hate or just time on its own. It's all about risk analysis, your credit profile and your income.

Rewards promos are nicer "gifts".

And, yes, it is all just business to them...although I disagree with takeshi a little. If two customers are low risk*, but one uses the card regularly while the other barely uses it, a few issuers (Discover, Barclaycard, to some extent Amex) will often favor the first customer as far as CLIs.

*Low risk meaning PIF on modest balances, reasonable income relative to total CLs, paying on time, no baddies, etc.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

True. If you don't use your card enough, even after the 6months CapOne will not grant you a CLI.
