Depends on the bank, but some don't require a social. They are not extending credit to an AU. It still falls on your shoulders if they max out the card.

I'd be a little hesitant of merely varying my name in order to "create" an AU. Like I said, it's only $10. Not really worth trying to get one over on Barclay's (who is known to be rather "sensitive" anyway).

Probably will just pass on this, but I am glad to see them throwing me little bones anyway.
