Mastercard Diamond, Black, World and Titanium.

Postby lovedr » Mon Jun 23, 2008 12:37 pm

I wasn't aware Mastercard issued a Diamond or Black card. This is what the Mastercard Moments website said that hinted me at their existence:

The MasterCard Moments Concierge Service is available to the following MasterCard cardholders (Black, World, Diamond, Platinum and Titanium cardholders only)

This does not refer to the Citi Diamond card does it?

I don't know what the difference between any of them is to be honest lol. I do see the 'world' printed on some cards and don't have the first clue of what that actually means in terms of benefits.

Tried looking up what exactly the World card or Diamond card meant but had no luck, not even on the Mastercard website. I don't think they mean anything significant like Amex cards do when they give them a name.

My guess is the Citi Diamond Rewards card is a so called diamond card because it's a mastercard too. That's definitely no exclusive credit card so I don't think the tag line of diamond means anything here at all.

Don't know about the others but 99% sure the Mastercard World card has no pre-set spending limit and it comes with some concierge services.

But if it's suppose to be a high class card it seems kinda off that a discount airline credit card (spirit) is a World Mastercard

Speaking of Spirit Airlines - what I hate about their rewards program is you don't get the extra points unless you're buying tickets in your name only. What if you have a family and you're buying for them too for you guys should go somewhere? It should all count and get the max points.

Guys remember that having no preset spending limit like the World MasterCard isn't a good thing! Credit-scoring companies can't make the credit-utilization calculation since there's no limit set. This could really play havoc even if you pay your balance every month. Don't open one of these cards!

why do people care whether their card is a titanium or diamond or whatever. do the benefits really make a difference between the cards? with amex it might but with a mastercard or visa i highly doubt the services you get you're ever going ot use and they probably don't vary much at all from a platinum or gold card.

as long as my cards have rental car insurance i'm happy. i don't need any of these other benefits i'll never use.

Why would you want a credit card that doesn't report your credit limits to the credit bureaus? Stay away from the Mastercard world cards b/c from what i know none of them report your CL. Not that they are bad cards other than that I'm sure they're fine but I'm thinking more long term here -- If I have a credit card I want one that is going to report my credit limits so I can build up my credit more. I'm not going to open up a card like this World Mastercard just because it's prestigious or something to have. I don't care about that stuff, I care about having a high credit score more!

Thanks. I didn't know either what any of these distinctions meant. Mastercard should do a better job of defining each so people know what they are!
