Best credit card for couple expecting Baby

Postby rsudhakar948 » Fri Oct 16, 2015 4:06 pm

We are expecting our first baby. And thanks giving is next month. We would like to buy all the stuff during thanks giving if possible. so what would be a good credit card that will help us earn rewards for all the baby stuff we buy

Congrats!

Discover is giving (through 2015) 10% cash back (5% now, 5% later) on Amazon, clothing stores, and department stores if you open a new IT account.

Freedom covers Amazon and Diapers.com for 5% (through 2015), but there are probably other ways to get Diapers.com savings. I saw some Amex offers for that website.

Congratulations! It sounds like you might be getting some bigger ticket items on Black Friday. Are you able to pay for everything you plan on getting in full, or will you utilize a 0% intro purchase APR? Several rewards cards offer them, but if you won't be able to pay for everything within the month you should definitely make sure you're getting a card that will have a sufficient 0% intro period for your needs (otherwise any interest you pay will likely wipe out your rewards fast, and rewards cards are known to have higher {standard} APRs).

plus several store accounts of varying usefulness now

Where would you buy it from? Category rewards are generally determined by the merchant coding.

And to add to this, the answer may not even be a credit card. A membership with a warehouse club may possibly save you much more through low prices than you'd save from earning rewards on a credit card.

Totally agree. BJ's or Costco will save you more than CC rewards, although BJ's does have their own mastercard with 5% back on purchases there. You have to spend the earnings at BJ's, but not a huge big deal IMO.
