0% balance transfer deal for existing citi diamond prefer cu

Postby Msmit4372 » Fri Jun 12, 2015 6:34 am

We have about $11,000 in debt spread over several credit cards and I would like to get it condensedndowm to one.

Has any existing customer of citi diamond preferred had any luck negotiating a 0 interest balance transfer deal out of them? I've received these deals from Chase and discover, but not citi yet.

Only one way to find out. They might counter with something other than 0%, but it will probably still be better than what you're paying now.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

I think you have to call. The 3% fee would still apply though and with only 12mos....

Ask your current creditors for a lower APR. Pay down your highest APRs off first. If you were able to consolidate all of your debt to one card, then do make sure the APR after the 0% period is lower than what you're already paying.

+1 Call and ask. Consider the BT fee versus the interest you'd accrue in the same timeframe on your other cards. Make sure you're considering the utilziation you'd end up at on the Citi card -- i.e. ideally it should have at least a $36K limit if you're looking to consolidate $11K on it. If not then make sure you can get its utilization down as quickly as possible.
